Sintra is a really enchanting place hidden up in the mountains, which is definitely worth a visit during your Erasmus adventure in Lisbon! Take a walk in the shoes of the Portuguese Royalty for a day, and visit some incredible and unique castles, the adorable village that is made up of small streets and tiny houses or walk around in the magical gardens of Sintra.

Palácio da Pena - This Romanticist Palace situated on top of a hill in the Sintra mountains constitutes one of the major expressions of the 19th century Romanticism. Surrounded by picturesque gardens, this extraordinary monument is definitely worth a visit.

Palácio de Monserrate - Monserrate Palace is one of the most impressive architectural creations in Portugal. Built in the style of Romanticism with Mudéjar Moorish inspired details, and surrounded by a large park featuring a lake, springs and fountains, it is no surprise that this exotic villa was the traditional summer resort of the Portuguese court.

As if that was not enough, Sintra is home to one of the most beautiful coastal areas of Portugal, including Cabo da Roca, the most western point of the European mainland!
